This blog is a little different than my other ones.

I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who came out and supported the band last night. You were awesome. You engaged the Spirit and He showed up in awesome splendor.

With that said i want to expound on last night. WOW!!! The teens were incredible. That was the most engaged i have ever seen them. It was incredible. Towards the end of the night we flowed right into some spontaneous worship that just about knocked me off my feet. The Holy Spirit was flowing greater than i have ever felt before. I was almost about to lose it. I was crying , barely could sing, and almost fell down it was so strong.

I say that to say this. I told the teens last night and i have even wrote a blog about it. God just wants to see you desire to follow him. He wants to see us desire to help Him. He doesnt need our help but he wants us to try and help that way when we run into a road block He knows we will coming running back for help.

Again, Thanks to all who came out and i will see you in a few months when we do it again.

Daydream

This is a short one.

I love Rick Pino’s music. His new CD has a song called daydream.

How many times during a day do you find yourself daydreaming? About lunch, whats for dinner, whats going on tonight, your favorite TV show, ect… I imagine most of you, including myself, dont include our Father in that list. I believe when we truly fall in love Christ we will get distracted from things because we are daydreaming about our Father.

Father i pray for our relationship to grow to the point that i get distracted by you. I want to daydream about you, your love, your grace, your very being. I love you Father

Can you hear it?

This my challenge to all musicians who are called to worship. All who know me know that i love worship. It’s my place to get away with God. It’s my way to romance my Father.

I’ve been listening to my greatest influences (jason upton, rick pino) the past couple of days and the biggest message i keep getting from them is “can you hear the sound?”. Wednesday night at prayer the verse was mentioned multiple times from the new testament that says “He who has an ear to hear let him hear”. I love the songs others write and I love using them as tools to lead others into God’s presence but there is something incredibly powerful about hearing the sounds of heaven and begining to play them. when you enter that vein and begin to flow the Holy spirit takes over and you will go farther and farther, faster and faster. Lets begin to put our chord charts and sheet music away and begin to hear what is coming out of heaven because that will be more powerful than anything we can come up with.

Father tune our ears to hear the sounds of heaven. that we would lay aside everything we know and begin to hear from you what you wish to pur out in us. amen

As you will find, most of my blogs will all start with a song or songs ive been listening to. I’ve been listening to Jason Upton’s newest CD “beautiful people”.  He has a song on there called “everything you do”, its the cutest song. its like a love song to a father, i love it. but i was thinking about when i was at ramp last and he was talking about the song before it was released on CD. It talks about how God just wants us to desire to help him. He knows he doesnt need us but he loves to see us try our hardest. To many people get stressed out when it comes to doing the things of God because they try to do them perfectly. God knows we arent going to get it right everytime. He doesnt care because his glory and grace fills in the imperfections we leave. lets stop worrying about getting it right and just be available to him to do whatever it takes.

Lets just breathe and mess up

Father help us to be willing vessels open to whatever you have for us. That we wont be concerned about doing it perfect but just that your name be glorified. amen

I just downloaded Keith Green’s “Ultimate Collection” CD. WOW!!!that is all i can say. Everytime i listen to his music it always digs deep into my spirit and makes me think. For example, he sings a song called Oh Lord you’re beautiful

Oh Lord, you’re beautiful,
Your face is all I see,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.

I want to take your word and shine it all around.
But first help me to just, live it Lord.
And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown.
For my reward is giving glory to you.

Oh Lord, please light the fire,
That once burned bright and clean.
Replace the lamp of my first love,
That burns with Holy fear

Everytime I listen to this song the part that sticks out most to me is the second part. He talks about not taking God’s word and spreading it around until he is living it. And what he says after that really hits my spirit hard. He says “And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown. For my reward is giving glory to you.” What kind of man can stand back and say i don’t care about a reward cause what I’m doing is reward enough? A humble man! A man whose life goal is to see his father in heaven glorified. Think about everything we do on a daily basis and how much we want for what we do. We are always looking for raises at work, more pay for what we do, increased acknowledgement for areas we succeed in. Nothing wrong with these things but I’m concerned at least for myself that these thought processes have rolled over into our spiritual lives. we have been brained washed into thinking that God owes us something. That we should be rewarded for doing what is right. It makes me think about training a dog. For the first few weeks of training a dog they say you should always encourage them with positive re-enforcements such as treats and toys, but after that they know what is right and you should finish the training using a more stearn approach. (cutting out treats, strong tones, ect.) Dont you think its about time for the body of Christ to grow up and begin to give Him praise for who He is and not worry about what our reward is. Lets stop looking for TREATS and start looking for our Lord to be pleased with what we do

Father today i set my eyes toward you, not worried about the reward but focusing on the fact that Your name is getting glory. Help us to adjust our mindset and refocus our attention toward you. Amen
